As a compound condition, pediatric Monteggia fracture is uncommon and easily misdiagnosed. When acute Monteggia fracture is diagnosed correctly and operated timely,long-term outcomes are generally excellent. Its missed diagnosis may lead to serious complications and deformities and increase the complexity of its treatment. Nonoperative measures play only a limited role. This review introduces recent operative advances for chronic pediatric Monteggia fracture.
