Interpretation of the 2025 SVS-APSA International Consensus on Iatrogenic Vascular Injuries in Infants and Toddlers:Implications for Clinical Practice in China

- Despite a low incidence,iatrogenic vascular injuries (IVIs) tend to have serious complications in infants and toddlers.There is a rapid progression to limb ischemia or even necrosis within a few hours and some individuals may eventually require amputation.Specific age characteristics of newborns,such as a femoral artery diameter of <2 mm,immature development of intima in tube wall and immature coagulation system,make it difficult for adult management experience to be directly applied.The 2025 SVS-APSA consensus covers all aspects of risk identification,diagnostic assessment,treatment selection and follow-up management.Based upon the interpretation of core recommendations and combining domestic medical resource allocation and referral conditions,this review discussed the practical limitations and feasible paths for localization implementation.
