Neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis:advances and challenges

- Abstract:
- Necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC)is one of the most destructive inflammatory bowel diseases in neonates.Its incidence and mortality rate have remained high.This review summarized the latest researches of NEC diagnosis and treatment.Single or multi-omic approaches may aid in its prediction or early diagnosis.Bowel ultrasound(BUS)proves promising in improving its diagnostic accuracy.Due attention should be devoted to nutritional supports after enterostomy.Amniotic fluid stem cells(AFSCs)are expected to be a new preventive strategy for neonatal NEC.
