- Abstract:
- Brain injury in early prematurity may cause a variety of severe complications, including premature mortality and disability.Previously non-specific symptomatic measures have been applied. In recent years, two new treatment options of erythropoietin dosing and stem cell transplantation have emerged.Meanwhile, a new surgical concept of "damage control" has been proposed. This review summarized the mechanisms and protocols of erythropoietin dosing, stem cell transplantation and new surgical approaches for brain injury in premature infants so as to provide rationales for clinical selection of optimal therapeutic options.
