Application of elastic intramedullary nailing in pediatric humeral fractures.
- Abstract:
- Objective To study the application of elastic intramedullary nails to treat the pediatric humeral fractures，and assess the curative effect．Methods26 cases of pediatric humeral fractures had been treated with elastic intramedullary nailing in our hospital from March 2005 to February 2009．Results26cases all have been followed up over 12months to 32 months，the average was 20.4 months．All fractures healed and callus grew well，all had full range of motion in the nearest joint and got excellent results without and malunion and bone ununion．During the operation，intertwining two nails was found in 1 case． After operations，irritated skin and exposed nail was found in 1 case，pin infection was found in 1 case．ConclusionsTitanium elastic intramedullary nail fixation of humeral fractures in children is a very effective method. Compared to the orthodox technique as epithesis or gypsum fixation or open reduction，this technique has many fortes，such as small skin wound，tiny tissue damage，fewer complications，fractures recovery fast，short period in hospital，the nails pull out convenience，a small scar after surgery and so on．
