Evaluations of voiding function in children with overactive bladder by home-uroflowmetry and its clinical significance

- Objective To evaluate the voiding function of children with bladder overactivity (OAB) by home-uroflowmetry (HUF) and explore the clinical significance of HUF in children.Methods From May 2021 to November 2021,20 OAB children (10 boys and 10 girls) aged 7-10 years at urinary dynamics clinic of First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University (OAB group),30 age-matched volunteers (control group) (15 boys and 15 girls) underwent HUF.Voiding frequency (VF) in 520 health pupils (7-10 years) from five primary and middle schools participated in a questionnaire survey.And 24 h,day and night VF,average voiding volume (VV) per time,24 h voided volume (VV),maximum flow rate (Qmax) and voiding time (VT) were recorded.Results VF at 24 h,day and night was significantly higher in OAB group than that in control group.VV,Qmax and VT were significantly lower than that in control group.The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).A total of 490 effective VF questionnaires were collected and 24 h,day and night VF was (6.3±0.96),(5.6±0.90) and (0.7±0.59) times respectively.No significant inter-gender differences existed in 24 h,day or night VF and there were no significant differences in VF among different ages (P>0.05).VF was significantly higher in OAB group than VF in questionnaire survey (P<0.05) and VF in control group was slightly higher than VF in questionnaire survey.However,the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusion Home-uroflowmetry is a useful tool for accurate and objective evaluations of voiding function of OAB children.
