nalysis of the short term effect of cheilectomy of LeggCalvePerthes Disease in children
- Abstract:
- Objetive To observe the short term results of treatment of LeggCalvePerthes Disease (LCPD) in children with cheilectomy.MethodsFour Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) patients (4 hips) were included in this study, 2 boys and 2 girls respectively. All 4 patients received expectant treatment, and were left with sequelae of LCPD. The deformed femoral head made it difficult to perform operative reduction. The valgus liplike bone was removed by knife. And the femoral head were mended to get satisfied central reduction.ResultsSatisfied clinical and Xray manifestation were observed post 2~3 years followup. The pain was alleviated or disappeared in 4 hips. No obvious lameness was found in 3 hips, and improvement was found in 1 hip. Before operation the hip extension is only 5 to 10 degrees, after operation 3 hips returned to normality and 1 hip improved partly. AHI reached 84.3% averagely, CE angle improved to 25 degrees, Sharp angle returned to 31.5 degrees. The short term curative effect was evaluated, the 3 hips were excellent,1 hip was good.ConclusionThe cheilectomy is effective in treating LeggCalvePerthes Disease in children. It can alleviate pain in hips and improve range of motion for short periods.
