Abstract:
Objetive To observe the short term results of treatment of LeggCalvePerthes Disease (LCPD) in children with cheilectomy.MethodsFour Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) patients (4 hips) were included in this study， 2 boys and 2 girls respectively. All 4 patients received expectant treatment， and were left with sequelae of LCPD. The deformed femoral head made it difficult to perform operative reduction. The valgus liplike bone was removed by knife. And the femoral head were mended to get satisfied central reduction.ResultsSatisfied clinical and Xray manifestation were observed post 2~3 years followup. The pain was alleviated or disappeared in 4 hips. No obvious lameness was found in 3 hips， and improvement was found in 1 hip. Before operation the hip extension is only 5 to 10 degrees， after operation 3 hips returned to normality and 1 hip improved partly. AHI reached 84.3% averagely， CE angle improved to 25 degrees， Sharp angle returned to 31.5 degrees. The short term curative effect was evaluated， the 3 hips were excellent，1 hip was good.ConclusionThe cheilectomy is effective in treating LeggCalvePerthes Disease in children. It can alleviate pain in hips and improve range of motion for short periods.
