Significance of Expression of RECK and MT1-MMP and Their Correlation with Suppression of the Tumor Metastasis in Hepatoblastoma.

- Objective To explore the expression of reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with kazal motifs (RECK) and membrane-type1 matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) in hepatoblastoma and their roles in metastasis and suppression of the tumor. Methods PV-6000 immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression levels of RECK and MT1-MMP in 35 samples of hepatoblastoma tissue, 15 cases of normal liver tissues and 10 cases of benign tumor tissues. Results The positive expression rate of the RECK protein in hepatoblastoma decreased significantly(28.6%) and correlated closely with the metastasis of the tumor(P = 0.022). The positive expression rate of the MT1-MMP protein in the hepatoblastoma was high (54.3%) and elevated with the increase depth and long-distance metastasis (P = 0.016). There was a negative correlation between RECK and MT1-MMP in hepatoblastoma (r = -0.418; P < 0.05). Conclusions RECK and MT1-MMP may play important roles in the progression of hepatoblastoma.
